So, I got laid off at the end of October and decided to take a road trip. I left November 30th and returned to Ohio December 21st. I covered 6,723 miles from Lisbon, OH - St. Louis - Grand Canyon - Joshua Tree - Palm Springs - L.A. - Las Vegas - Yellowstone - Mount Rushmore - Duluth, MN - Detroit - Columbus, OH - Lisbon. I stayed several nights in a couple of the locations and ten days in L.A.. Without a doubt it was a fantastic trip. I saw some incredible natural sites and some awesome cars. I hiked a small portion of the Grand Canyon, visited the Petersen Museum in L.A., went to my first Cars and Coffee in Huntington Beach and snowmobiled 112 miles in -40 degree weather at Yellowstone. It was an incredibly diverse trip and I feel very fortunate to have been able to take it. Below are a few of the pictures I took which are relevant to Oppo.

Route 66 is beautifully desolate. I would have loved to have seen it when it was THE highway between Chicago and L.A.

If you have not seen the Grand Canyon and have the opportunity please make the trip. Pictures and words cannot describe how amazing this place is to visit.

1930 Bugatti Type 46. Orange over orange over dark brown fenders. Truly a beautiful vehicle.

Kinja'd!!!

1954 Mercedes-Benz W196 in the Precious Metals room at the Petersen. The next couple were taken at the Cars and Coffee in Huntington Beach.

I didn’t get to talk to the owner of the Corvette Nomad but I am assuming it was either a kit or a custom build as, to my knowledge at least, none of these were sold to the public. Either way, it was built to a very high standard.

I love this old Power Wagon, one of the few vehicles on which the patina looks right.

Yellowstone Lake

Kinja'd!!!

At -40 it was a brutally cold but worthwhile ride.

Kinja'd!!!

My brother flew out to L.A. and met me for the trip back to Ohio. It was a great trip to take with him.

Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!! Kinja'd!!!

Ohio welcomed me back with a heck of a sunset.

Let me know what you think of the pictures, I enjoy taking them and am always curious what other people think of my shots.

I am glad to be home. Now I need to find a job. Merry Christmas to all of you out there in Internet Land.

Dude, bitchin’ photos. Thanks for posting. You seem like the kind of guy who doesn’t have to look for a job, the jobs come looking for you. Best of luck to you.

Awesome pics and story, thanks. I love the supercharger 57' Chevy from the C&C shots. A dream car of mine has always been a black 57' Chevy 2 door Bel Air with a supercharged big block.

Great trip! I did something similar in the years before digital cameras. One day I’ll get them scanned and posted.

That guy made quite an impression when he pulled into the show. The ‘57 had a great lope and you could hear him coming from around the corner.

I still have an old 35MM but I haven’t used it in years. It is so much nicer to actually know if you have the shot rather than getting home, dropping the film off and realizing you were out of focus three days later when you pick it up.

Do you have a site which you use to post large photo dumps?

We made the switch when we realized a new digital body cost as much as we spent processing film in one year. My wife took a LOT of pictures that year!
